Mapping the World: How Gladys West's Math Shaped Our World

This poster will be explaining the life and impact of the mathematician Glady’s West. Gladys West is notable for her various achievements in the creation of GPS, the SEASAT Project, and her ability to acquire such a high education. This poster will provide examples of the math she worked on, as well as various pictures and information’s on the projects she performed for the US military. It will also show the life she grew up in, and what she did for this country and this world as a whole. 

  • Michael Blizzard is a graduate from Greenwood High School and is a sophomore Dual Math and Mechanical Engineering Degree at Lander University. Michael has always been known among his peers as a energetic, extroverted, and thoughtful public speaker, and has presented various mathematical and religious topics in front of crowds such as these.
