Caroline Herschel

Sarah Littleton

In this poster presentation, we will focus on the impact that German-born British mathematician Caroline Herschel had on mathematics. Herschel was known for her work in astronomy and the impact she made by being a woman in the 18th to mid 19th century. She faced gender barriers during her time, but Caroline pushed through them so she could influence others. She wanted to prove that women, too, could do mathematics and science. This project will show her work as a mathematician and her history.

  • Sarah Littleton is a sophomore mathematics major at Lander University. Sarah is from Easley, South Carolina and graduated from Easley High School is 2022.
