Peer Mentor into Classroom Teacher

This presentation will explore how a senior education major experienced time as a peer mentor in working with freshman in a semester long field placement seminar course then the transition into taking over a classroom. With experience as a current teacher for Greenwood 50 School District, the presentation shares the ways to connect with peer groups, reflections of leadership and growth throughout the experience, and how those skills have benefitted a teacher in a classroom. 

  • Haylen Satterfield graduated from Dorman High School in Roebuck, SC, and is a senior elementary education major with a minor in psychology. Her achievements include being an Honors College member, CERRA Teaching Fellow, SGA Treasurer, Palmetto State Teachers Association President, Kappa Delta Pi Vice president, and presenting at the 2023 SCATE Conference for educators.
