College, Music and Crime

Kentaisa Williams

The purpose of this research is to explore the connection between music lyrics and deviant behavior among college students through the explanation of the Social Disorganization Theory. This theory explains how an individual’s behavior can be a reflection of their physical and social environment. Using the survey “Perceptions of Misogynistic Lyrics and the Issue of Domestic Violence” (Cundiff.G, 2013) as a cornerstone, this presentation explores different genres of music and the impact on college students.
