Social Transfer Protocol
Kenneth Anderson, Matthew Bailey, Moises Flores
This presentation will discuss the development of a secure, high-performance peer-to-peer (P2P) file transfer service that is designed to provide privacy and improved efficiency for users. An incentivized social network was built around the P2P service to create a user base and provide a trust system to facilitate the file-sharing process. The trust system, or web-of-trust, is based on the reputation and status of the users within the social network. The presentation will focus on the design and implementation of the system, highlighting the benefits of using a P2P network over a traditional client-server architecture. It will discuss the challenges faced in designing the system, such as scalability and overcoming common issues faced by P2P networks such as resource allocation and routing. The presentation will also describe the incentivized social network that was built around the P2P service. It will discuss how the social network provides an incentive for users to participate in the system, as well as how the web-of-trust is implemented within the social network. In conclusion, the presentation will discuss the advantages of using a P2P service to transfer files and how the social network adds an additional layer of protection through its trust system and helps to build a user base."
