Foster Care Issues: Policy Implementation
Hannah Homovich
This presentation examines the problems and issues that foster care children have faced. Children in the foster care system have lived in prisons, emergency shelters, hotels, etc., often because it was the only place that was available. These children have not been getting the care that they need, and this has resulted in wide-ranging problems among these children. They aren’t getting the medical attention they need nor are they receiving the education that they need. There are definitely some things that the state could do to better help this situation. Policy changes need to be introduced, more people need to be hired, more foster homes are created, and more people are needed to take care of these children. There are numerous things that could be done to help the children in these situations, but people and organizations need to all work together for the good of the children.
