Alan Turing: Father of the Computer

Trey Runck

This poster is about Alan Turing’s life and the accomplishments he made. Turing was a mathematician responsible for developing the first multi-application computer, helping break the Enigma Code in World War II, and pioneering research into artificial intelligence and simulated cell growth. Despite these accomplishments he also experienced severe prejudice, due to being homosexual in England during the early 1900’s, where to be so was a federal crime. Though dying an early death he would prove to change history in many fields and change social norms everywhere.

  • Trey Runck is a sophomore mathematics and engineering major. He graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and plays for the Lander University Men’s Rugby team. After his time at Lander, he will transfer to Clemson to continue his mechanical engineering degree as well as play rugby.
