Benjamin Banneker in Mathematics History

This poster presentation will explore the works of American mathematician Benjamin Banneker. Banneker was notable for his work with astronomy and the impact he made as a black mathematician. Banneker was able to use his influence as a recognized mathematician to fight for slaves rights. This poster will show examples of Banneker's work and display his impacts through supporting abolitionist efforts.

• Rivers Henderson is a junior in the CIS/Dual engineering degree program. Her experiences include participating in multiple programming contests with the Lander Programming Team and involvement with other Lander associations such as Lander Rotaract and Lander BCM.
