Mental Health Help For Childhood Trauma

Alana Turner & Chanceler Anderson

Child abuse is considered a modifiable risk factor for academic and mental disorders. The result of these consequences is adult and adolescent trauma. To prevent this trauma, mental health facilities are placed in each county with mental health professionals to help the children cope with the long-lasting effects of their childhood. This poster presents findings on the number of mental health professionals available in Greenwood and Aiken County, the pathways by which children can receive these services, and the availability of these services in each county. It will also present the extent to which the services are free or only covered through insurance and the education that is needed to treat the children.
