Finding the Need to Exchange

Christina J. Meakim

Every year, thousands of Lander University students move. Most move either into campus housing or somewhere close to the campus. Others are doing the opposite, where they are moving away from campus for various reasons, including graduation or transferring to a different university. Those who are moving in typically spend a significant amount of time searching for items like furniture, dishes, seating, etc., and those who move out often find themselves throwing away quality items the ‘moving in’ people could have used. There are multiple existing services that can bridge this gap, but many of them have serious safety issues, so an alternative tailored to Lander students and graduates needs to be explored.

  • Christina Meakim graduated from Newberry Academy in Newberry, and is now a senior in computer information systems with an emphasis in software development and a minor in cybersecurity. Her achievements include representing Lander University in regional programming competitions with other CIS students, and her team was placed among the top ten teams multiple times. She is an active member of Lander Technology club for the past three years and represented Lander University Technology club in the Greenwood city STEAM festival of 2019.
